About 1.20am Wednesday, officers attached to Orana Local Area Command were called to Orana Mall Shopping Centre after security guards noticed a smashed glass door.
On arrival, police found another smashed window at a jewellery store in the northern side of the complex.
Further investigations revealed about $30,000 worth of jewellery had been taken from the store.
A crime scene was established and as police continue their investigations, they want to speak to a man who may be able to assist them.
He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall, and of slim build.
Police also believe a vehicle, not linked to the incident, was driving around the area at the time of the incident.
The driver of that vehicle, or anyone who is approached to purchase discounted jewellery, namely bangles, necklaces and rings, is also urged to contact Orana Police via Crime Stoppers.
Orana Mall centre manager Cherie Forrester said security footage had been handed over to police. "The damaged door was fixed by eight o'clock this (Wednesday) morning, and it's business as usual now, all stores are trading as normal, including the jewellery store," she said.
