Twelve teams have entered the competition and it is set to be an exciting day of play with the best teams from around the central west all in action.
Group 11 will have two representatives, with the Forbes Magpies joining the Rabbitohs, while Group 10 and the Woodbridge Cup will also be represented.
Now in its fifth year, Group 11 will be looking for one of its representatives to win the competition for the first time with the previous winners being the Canowindra Tigers, Bathurst St Pats, Orange Hawks and in a dominant display last year, Orange CYMS.
League tag has been a booming sport in the central west in recent years with both group 10 and the Woodbridge Cup having their own women's competitions.
Group 11 are now getting in on the fast-paced action with their own competition kicking off this season and six teams have already nominated to take part.
One of this weekend's Western Challenge's convenors, Andrew Pull, believes this league tag tournament is shaping as the most evenly contested yet.
"It's one of the exciting events on the pre-season calender," he said.
"This year I can't pick a winner but really like Lithgow as an outsider, while Orange CYMS, Eugowra and Dubbo Westside are all top seeds and equal favourites for the day."
Westside impressed last year during their debut in the competition and this year they have been thrown into a difficult pool with home side Canowindra and Orange Hawks.
Usually contested on a Saturday, this year the event will take place on a Sunday in order to allow more people to attend the Penrith Panthers-Gold Coast Titans match at Bathurst on the Saturday.
There will be free entry at Tom Clyburn Oval in Canowindra with the first match kicking off at 10.30am.
