Williamson was sentenced to five years non-parole in March last year after pleading guilty to ripping off the Health Services Union and then using friends and family to try to cover his tracks when the fraud squad began investigating.

On October 15, 2013, Williamson pleaded guilty to a raft of criminal charges. After leaving the court he walked the few blocks to the Kent Street office of bankruptcy specialist Michael Jones to organise his bankruptcy.

Earlier, Williamson had signed an undertaking with his former union to repay the $5 million from which he and his family corruptly benefited. Because his wife Julieanne filed for divorce her share of the couple's assets are protected from her husband's bankruptcy trustee.
Mrs Williamson, who is understood to be living in the family's holiday home on the Central Coast and running an business importing artefacts from south-east Asia, will also have to give evidence before Registrar Tony Tesoriero when her husband is examined over his affairs in the Federal Court on April 9.

Williamson's bankruptcy trustee Mr Jones has previously stated his task was to find where the money had gone and if there was anything left for creditors.

"In cases like these, my job is to check it's not stashed under the pillowcase, hidden in the Cayman Islands or been given to a family friend with the purpose of hiding it from creditors," he has previously said.
On Monday Erik de Haart, the Williamson family accountant, gave evidence about the Williamsons' finances.

Mr de Haart said that he was asked to prepare a return for Canme, a company listed to Mrs Williamson. Her husband told the accountant that the company did archiving work for the union. "Every time I asked her about it [Canme] she said to talk to Michael who knew more about it that she did," Mr De Haart told the court.

Mrs Williamson declined to give evidence to an internal union inquiry which investigated the Canme matter, among other things, but she did write to the inquiry's head Ian Temby QC saying that not only had she done the work, but that she should have been paid more.  "I felt I should have been charging $200 per hour, as the work was downright disgustingly filthy," Mrs Williamson informed him.

However, according to the police statement of facts, "None of the hundreds of documents purportedly sorted and collated for scanning by the offender's wife have ever been located and police have evidence that supports the assertion that the work was not done," the statement said. "The funds deposited into the Canme account were utilised by the offender to maintain his family's lifestyle, including credit-card payments, clothing and beauty purchases as well as mortgage payments for various properties and the payments of private school fees."

Williamson's examination by lawyers for his bankruptcy trustee has been adjourned until April.
