Paget, 35, who was living at Liverpool at the time of the offences, will have his appeal heard at the Downing Centre District Court on March 18.
Paget was granted bail when he appeared in Orange Local Court in October 2014, however was later sentenced to eight-months’ jail for possession of the explosives in a public place.
He received suspended sentences for the two drug possession charges after he was found to have small amounts of cannabis and methamphetamine in his vehicle when stopped by police.
The Sydney-based bomb squad was called to the central west to the Mumbil area in October last year to check out two devices believed to be similar to those which form part of the case against Paget.
When Paget appeared in Orange Local Court his legal aid solicitor said he was mystified by the media attention the case had drawn saying the device in his client’s car was made from modified fireworks.
“He is not some bomb-making jihadist", solicitor Gerry Stapleton said.
The court also heard at the time Paget had a criminal history, but no ties to Orange.
