The revamped Dubbo Blood Donor Centre will include an additional interview room, a new welcoming reception area and a redesign of the donor floor to create a more modern and comfortable space.
Blood Service spokesperson Erin Clarke said the Dubbo Blood Donor Centre would be closed for renovations from Friday, February 20 to Monday, March 16.
"We will be closed for three weeks and look forward to welcoming back people to our new-look centre from Tuesday, March 17," Mrs Clarke said.
The closure of the building will have no impact on local blood supplies, as all donations are centrally processed, tested and distributed to hospitals from Sydney Processing Centre.
Mrs Clarke said the Red Cross network included 23 centres across the state, which were all equipped to make up the collections during that time.
The support from the Dubbo community was important, Mrs Clarke said, in both the lead-up and aftermath of the revamp, with donations needed to ensure blood for those who needed it.
"We value the life-saving contributions of all our blood donors and community supporters," she said.
"We know a personal donation experience means donors are more likely to return to donate and we know these changes in the centre will help lift numbers.
The centre will continue to process and collection more than 9500 blood and plasma donations annually.
Mrs Clarke said while residents could expect to be pleasantly surprised by the changes, the most important things - being the staff, milkshakes and volunteers - will remain the same.
