A 27-year-old was walking down Crampton Street, heading for home, when someone knocked him over and began assaulting him.
Once he was on the ground, more men joined the initial bandit in the vicious attack, which occurred around 3.25am.
They then stole the victim's wallet and a bracelet before running away.
Police and paramedics arrived after the 27-year-old raised the alarm, and following an assessment by paramedics he was taken to Wagga Base Hospital for further treatment of facial injuries.
Four men were arrested nearby and are "assisting with police inquiries".
A quantity of suspected stolen property, including an iPad, keys and a satellite navigation unit, were seized in the course of the arrest.
The four men are aged 21, 22, 23 and 33.
