Families and their personal cheer squads lined Lake Wendouree from 8am.
All four events are underway at Lake Wendouree, including the MTB Fat Tyre Challenge, Lake Walk, Lake Relay and the Mount Buninyong 50km, 60km, 85km and 100km events.
This is the seventh annual Ballarat Cycle Classic, which raises funds for the Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute.
Windmill Drive was abuzz with the family fun day.
Jamie Smail was watching his wife Rebecca and children Hamish, Callum and Flynn participate in the Lap of the Lake.
"I knew Fiona Elsey when she was a kid, so I guess there's a bit of a connection," he said.
"We all participated a couple of years ago. The ride is about recognising the needs of other people and sharing the love."
The Team Bluey cheer squad were also in full swing.
Lachlan Jew, 8, was waiting to ride his bright yellow bike in the Lake Relay event.
"I like riding because it's fun," he said.
The keen rider is also participating to show his support for cancer research.
His mother Tamie Jew lost her father to cancer a couple of years ago.
About $1 million has been raised from the Cycle Classic since the event began in 2008.
More than 1600 people attended the event last year.
