By THE DUCKESS
LAST Sunday many of the Dubbo Ducks travelled to Nyngan to compete in the annual Western Districts AIF Swimming Carnival.
Teams from Cobar, Condobolin, Wellington, Forbes, Nyngan and Dubbo all competed in friendly rivalry and there were some very impressive swims on the day.
The Dubbo club had good results but most of the success came from our ex-service men.
The Dubbo team of Tom Gray, David Sparkes, Greg Salmon and Doug Fuller were a real standout and they were victorious in the 4x50m RSL Scratch relay.
Greg Salmon and David Sparkes were second and third respectively in 30m RSL Handicap 60 years and over.
Mark Scullard came third in a field of 108 swimmers in the 30m Open Handicap.
Tom Gray and Greg Salmon took first and second place in the 50m RSL Handicap, also known as the Clive Rootes Memorial Trophy.
The Dubbo boys scooped the pool in the 50m RSL Championship - 65 years and over, with Tom Gray, Greg Salmon and Tony Wall taking the first three placings.
The 50m Open Sprint was a great race with Gabor Csicsovszki from Cobar just touching out Mark Scullard and Vlad Petrovic from Dubbo.
There were no representatives from the Dubbo Club in the 50m Open Ladies Scratch race. This event is sponsored by Big On Style (Dubbo) and was taken out by Lizzy Hoy from Nyngan from Leah Ridley (Nyngan) and Janelle Frappell (Wellington).
A big thanks to Big on Style for their yearly sponsorship.
A big congratulations to the Nyngan club on a very successful day.
The carnival ran very smoothly and the luncheon, presentation and entertainment received rave reviews.
The Forbes club will host the 2016 carnival in February.
This week it is back to the 'Duck Pond' for the usual Sunday morning swim.
Everyone is welcome to come on down to the RSL pool at 9am and have a fun morning.
