Country Labor candidate for Dubbo Stephen Lawrence has been critical of the NSW government and Dubbo MP Troy Grant for not confirming the future of the childcare centre.
Mr Lawrence said deputy opposition leader Linda Burney had tabled questions on notice about the future of Playmates on November 19, and had to wait until January 5, 47 days later.
However the minister's spokesperson said the usual 35-day period had been interrupted by Christmas and was extended.
"Stephen Lawrence asserted the NSW government failed to respond to a question on notice within the required 35 days. This is untrue," the spokesperson said.
"Last November, NSW Parliament advised of Christmas shutdown changes saying all responses to questions on notice due over the Christmas break were to be tabled on 5 January.
"Ms Burney received a response on 5 January, which is in line with requirements."
