In a reunion filmed by Channel 7 news, Charade Keane was reunited with the golfer who she helped after he was assaulted near a Honolulu wine bar.

"I believe him and I was there and I know he was hurt and someone was trying to hurt him and he was robbed," Ms Keane told the media outlet.

Allenby thanked Ms Keane, giving her a $1000 reward.

"I really appreciate what you did for me," he told her.

Ms Keane's account to two media outlets contradicted Allenby's. She said she found him with a bloodied face metres from the Amuse Wine Bar where Allenby had claimed he was abducted from. Allenby said he was dumped 10 kilometres away from the wine bar.

Allenby told Channel 7 he was confused.

"See, I have two and a half hours of my life that I don't know anything about," he said.

"The first thing I said (to Ms Keane) was 'Where am I?'. I didn't know where I was."

Asked if he understood why there was speculation surrounding his story, Allenby replied, "No, because I'm severely hurt."

But hours before the reunion, CNN's Golf Channel reported Allenby sent a text message about Ms Keane to one of its analysts saying "I'm guessing she's getting paid" and later, "It's such a shame that people are focusing on whether the story is true. I say you only have to look at me to see the truth."

Ms Keane had previously told Channel Nine that Allenby was arguing with two people when she found him, and was offering to use his last remaining credit card to withdraw $500 in exchange for getting his wallet back.

"He said that he had been robbed and somebody did this to him, and they took his money and his wallet and his phone," she said.

"There was two people there also that started arguing with him, so I asked him to come with me. I said 'This guy needs help'. I didn't want them fighting ... and he trusted me and we walked across the street and we came this way towards the pancake house."

Allenby told Sunrise on Monday morning, Melbourne time, that he ran down the street with the woman and encountered a former military officer who obliged when Allenby asked him to take him back to his hotel.

On Monday night, Honolulu police had obtained CCTV footage of two men using Allenby's credit card to buy two bottles of alcohol at a store in Waikiki on Saturday, Channel Nine reported.

Questions were raised when the FBI were forced to deny Allenby's claim that they were investigating.

The incident did not cross any state borders so it was being investigated by local police as a second-degree robbery, an FBI spokesman said on Monday.

Allenby's family admonished people questioning the chain of events, saying there were a "lot of haters and sceptics on social media".

Allenby also told Channel Nine that he was abducted in a carpark, not a street corner, and had taken an elevator down to the carpark with the group of unknown men because they told Allenby his two friends from the bar were down there.

He said he believed it was a targeted attack by people "jealous" of his fame.

Allenby had been in Hawaii for the Sony Open golf tournament but missed the cut and was due to fly home on Saturday.
