All four sides from Sydney; West City Scorpions, South City Sharks, North City Silverbacks and the East City Stallions all won yesterday.
That makes it two consecutive wins for the Scorpions, Sharks and Silverbacks, giving them a great opportunity to make Thursday's finals.
Despite the Western Riverina Kangaroos going down to the Scorpions yesterday Dubbo's Thomas Nelson starred in a losing side, making an undefeated 66 in his side's total of 176.
Unfortunately it wasn't enough as the Scorpions reached the target for the five wickets with nine overs remaining.
Tournament director Michael Maclennan said he had witnessed some outstanding cricket during the first two days of play.
"It's been really good, we're starting to see some really good young quick bowlers and the batsmen are learning different things," he said.
"It will be a good test for them going into day three, a third day of 50-over cricket, and then it's on to finals."
Maclennan said another pleasing aspect was the style of cricket being played.
With Twenty20 such a success there has been a feeling in cricket circles that younger players will become to familiar with the short form tactics and forget how to play longer form cricket.
But Maclennan said that has not been the case.
"At the end of the day kids just want to play cricket and that's the good thing and that's what we want," he said.
"We're seeing kids playing normal shots and scoring runs that way so it's been perfect."
While Maclennan and the carnival organisers have been overwhelmed by the start of the four-day event, the tournament director added he was hearing plenty of positive comments from parents and spectators.
"The feedback has been fantastic, the locations at Lady Cutler and Victoria Park are amazing and everyone can't believe how supportive the local clubs and council are," he said.
"Parents have also been impressed by the standard of cricket. At local competitions the best players dominate but they're brought back here because they're the best 104 players in the state in each age group."
Today's matches see the Western under-14s, featuring Dubbo's Nelson, Henry Railz and Tom Atlee, take on the South Coast Marlins at Lady Cutler 4 while the under-13s Kangaroos, with locals Mitch Ashford and Alex Brien in the lineup, will play the Marlins at No. 1 Oval.
