Ben Patterson and his NSW/ACT under-19s side have enjoyed mixed results during the first four rounds of the Cricket Australia under-19 National Championships at Adelaide.
Patterson and Cowra quick Jacob McNaught both made the side which has so far recorded two wins and two losses.
Patterson sat out the first game as Queensland trounced NSW/ACT, bowling them out for 70 and then reaching the target inside 16 overs for the loss of no wickets.
The Hawkesbury-bound quick returned to the side last Tuesday and made an immediate impact, taking 3-48 against Victoria but it wasn't enough as his side again went down.
Things turned around for the NSW/ACT side in the first two-day match of the Championships as they defeated Western Australia in a hugely impressive outright win.
Patterson took the new ball with McNaught in that match and finished with 0-30 from 12 overs while the Cowra speedster claimed 2-20 from six to help get their side off to a strong start.
Western Australia made 170 and then rolled NSW/ACT for 132, with Patterson making 33 from 54 balls.
The boys from the west then declared at 2-176 in search of the outright win but they were stunned as NSW/ACT achieved a reverse outright win of their own, reaching the target of 215 for the loss of just five wickets inside 40 overs.
In the round four match, played on Sunday and continuing yesterday, NSW/ACT piled on 7-332 declared against the Northern Territory before dismissing the northerners for 162.
Former Rugby opening bowler Patterson took 1-35 from 11 overs in the first innings and NSW/ACT then enforced the follow on as they chased a big outright win to help them back up the ladder.
At the time of print yesterday Northern Territory were 5-150, still requiring another 20 to make NSW/ACT bat again.
