The official opening Big Splash Water World at the Dubbo Showground went off with a bang, thanks to Alicia and Jesse McDonald.
Owners of McDonald Amusements, the Brisbane-based couple decided to take the plunge and treat Dubbo from January 10 to January 26 for the slide experience of a lifetime.
Having grown up in Coonabarabran, Mrs McDonald said she and her husband only had Dubbo in mind when they decided to take their slide on the road.
The pair were optimistic about how many residents would walk through the door on Saturday, but the weather did seem to deter many.
"We're hoping to get a couple of hundred visitors a day," Mr McDonald said.
Big Splash Water World includes four different slides, three for the adrenalin junkies and one smaller for the more sensible youth in the crowd.
"We also offer smaller, age-appropriate slides for youngsters," Mr McDonald said.
Although the slides may not be everyone's cup of tea, the McDonalds were sure to include other activities the whole family could enjoy, with a mini sideshow available for visitors.
"There's something for everyone," Mr McDonald said.
Sadly, the carnival would be over after Australia Day, so the McDonalds were urging everyone to get down to the Big Splash Water World and have a frolic on the slides.
