Veteran runner Hurricane Rino, trained by Pamela, made it 18 wins from 59 starts and it was arguably the finest victory of his career.
"He went really well, we're really happy with him," Paul Braddon said.
"He's getting a bit long in the tooth now but he's still racing well, he's won us plenty of prize money and he's been a super dog."
In an open final featuring the talents of pre-race favourite Susannah Cargo ($2.50) and Duncan McGinness ($3.00), Hurricane Rino ($6.30) began well from box five.
By the time the field reached the top of the back straight Hurricane Rino and Duncan McGinness were side by side with the rest of the field trailing but the veteran managed to hold off the Colin Williams-trained runner and win by half a length.
"It's always good (winning a final), he won his heat last week then he won it from the front this week so it was a good effort," Braddon said.
"He had to be up there early, if he wasn't he wouldn't win it but he got there and pushed his way through so it was really good."
Susannah Cargo finished third, a further five lengths behind.
This was followed up with another Braddon veteran tasting success with Bow Dandie showing there's plenty of life left in his legs by recording a hugely impressive win in the Cosmic Rumble @ Stud Stakes (400m).
Unlike Hurricane Rino, who led start to finish, Bow Dandie ($6.00) was made to work for his victory but came home well to beat Hoobilation ($3.80) by one-and-a-half lengths while Myalla Monaro ($2.30) was third.
"He's not going quite as well as he was, he's getting a bit old but that was one of his best wins because normally he's got to be out in front but he came form nearly last to win that, Braddon said after his second consecutive victory.
"I didn't think he'd run the dogs down because he's not that strong but like I said that was probably one of the best runs he's put in."
