The club held a meeting on Wednesday night, that had been planned after an article appeared in that day's edition of the Daily Liberal, outlining concerns from CWAFL general manager Tony Lewis in regards to a number of clubs involved in the competition.
Lewis said there were "grave doubts about the reserves and under-18s for both Cowra and Dubbo and they've been issued basically with a please explain from us as to what's happening".
He also said the board was "sick of seeing guys double up and play two games every week so that clubs can get sides on the field" and indicated that if the competition had to go on without reserve grade and under-18s the board's position was "so be it".
A written statement made by first grade coach Mick Daly said the Demons' record suggests there should be no concerns about them fielding teams and said some quality players had been added to his current roster.
"Obviously I am extremely disappointed with the comments made in respect to the Dubbo Demons' capabilities of fielding teams this season," the statement read.
"A planning meeting is scheduled to be held by AFL Central West on February 8 where amongst other issues all participating clubs will be required to furnish a list of registered players for the grades they're planning on nominating teams in."
New Demons president Mick Haley said the club would put forward some proposals to counteract some of the obstacles clubs may be facing in regards to fielding teams week in, week out and participation in the finals.
"I was extremely disappointed to read the comments of a league official but we have a new committee in place this year which brings new people with energy and ideas to promote the code within our city," Haley said.
"The old committee did a great job through some tough times keeping the club together and involved in the central west competition.
"The Demons are a foundation club of the central west competition and have enjoyed success and some tough times since the competition's inception in 1981 as have other clubs.
"We want to confirm to our members, supporters and sponsors that the Dubbo Demons are here to stay and are looking forward to continued growth and success in the future."
Wednesday's article drew some solid support from the Demons faithful on the Daily Liberal website, showing the level of support from within the club.
In 2014 the Demons first grade side finished in fourth place and played finals football and Daly said the indications were positive the squad will improve this season.
"We were very pleased with last year as a club," he said.
"We didn't forfeit one game in first grade and reserves, we had a decent growth of new players and our playing group became more experienced.
"The core group is very enthusiastic about growing the Dubbo Demons and we have two new recruits, Sean Jackson and Ben Maddigan.
"Sean has played high level AFL, playing for East Fremantle in the WAFL and in the Tasmanian State League while Ben Maddigan has played at a high level in the SANFL.
"Last year Ryan Woolfe and Struan Pearce came to the Dubbo Demons. Both are great clubman and really contributed to growing the club throughout the year.
"Struan also showed his skills on the field being a joint best and fairest with Kim Woodman and Mitch Mckechnie.
"We also had a number of new local players to AFL, with one being Dan O'Leary. He started off in the reserves and strung together a number of good performances saw him elevated to first grade where he continued to play well.
"With a number of senior players such as Terry Lyons, Kim Woodman and Brian Fogarty we are very enthusiastic about building player numbers and player skill and are very optimistic about the season ahead."
Anybody interested in playing or being involved with the Demons is asked to contact Daly on 0499 851 313, with training to commence for players of all ages on Thursday, January 15.
An AFL 9s tournament will re-commence on February 6 and a local-based junior competition is being planned for roll-out in 2015.
