Former Paralympic skiier and cyclist Michael Milton and his wife and former Dubbo resident, Penni visited family at Dubbo for Christmas.
He was also in town as a new ambassador of Trek Bicycle Corporation and came to visit Trek dealer Darrell Wheeler Cycles.
Mr Milton won six gold, three silver and two bronze medals as a Paralympic skiier and cyclist.
But these days cycling is more for fun that anything else, Mr Milton said.
"I'm a bit of a weekend warrior these days," he said.
"But I've been on a couple of bike rides in Dubbo over Christmas."
Last year Mr Milton broke the record for running a marathon on crutches, walked the Kokoda Track and scaled Mount Kilamanjaro.
He's been awarded the Order of Australia and has been inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame.
Mr Cushan, a former Masters Games gold-medalist swimmer first met Mr Milton at his first cycling meet at the Australian Para-cycling Road Championships in 2010.
The St John's science teacher said riding with Mr Milton was a great experience and he hopes to ride as part of his paracycling group in the future.
"It was great to finally meet him after being in contact since 2011," he said.
"It was good to bounce ideas and stories off each other."
Mr Milton said it was great to experience Dubbo cycling with a local.
Mr Cushan is looking to compete in more cycling events, such as the Zoo2Zoo, Canberra to Dubbo and Canberra to Mogo rides.
Mr Milton expressed his interest in the Evocities MTB Series, saying he would "love to come down."
