Unless the federal government changed its mind, patients would pay about $250 out of their own pockets to have one body region scanned using the new Siemens Magnetom Aera 1.5T wide bore MRI, which was delivered last month.

POLICE have made an urgent appeal for information as they try to piece together what happened before a Wellington man was discovered unconscious with a head injury in his Wellington home.
Emergency services were called to the Parkes Street residence about 8.15am Friday after another man was seen running from the property carrying a whipper snipper.
Paramedics treated the 47-year-old resident, who was lying on the floor with a deep cut to his head.
He was taken to Wellington Hospital then to Orange Health Service, where he remains in a critical but stable condition.
Orana Local Area Command Acting Inspector Justin Falkiner said the incident was shocking.
"It's a concern that someone has been attacked in their own home and that's why we are urgently appealing for information regarding this matter," he said.

7.25: Making regional news:
*ORANGE: Hundreds of items donated to St Vincent de Paul were sent to the rubbish tip after goods were “ratted through” and strewn throughout McNamara Street and the Aldi car park on the weekend. Volunteers spent hours on Saturday night and Sunday morning cleaning up after thoughtless thieves took whatever they could and left the rest to be ruined by the rain.
*BATHURST: After thieves broke into their house and stole their presents, little B-Jay and Angel White were facing a pretty dire Christmas. But that all changed thanks to the generosity of complete strangers who, touched by the children’s plight, rallied and donated presents for the children to open on Christmas morning.
*BATHURST: Central West Flying School (CWFS) has reached an agreement with one of Europe’s most successful light aircraft manufacturers, BRM, which is based in the Czech Republic, for the sale of their aircraft in NSW and Queensland. CWFS owner Chris Stott said the local flying school offers test flights for potential buyers from all over Australia by working in conjunction with Melbourne-based Anderson Aviation.
