In recent times racing at the venue has become a tradition on the day after Christmas, joining with the gallops and harness racing to create a full day for the keen punters in the region.
Known As Typo and Benji's Friend are sure to have their share of support in their respective races today after both have shown very good form in recent times.
Known As Typo comes from the strong Scott Watson kennels and will line up from box three in the Shakey Jakey @Stud Stakes (400m).
The Trewly Special x All Quality bitch has been to the races on 10 occasions and is yet to miss a cheque for Watson and owner Tom Walch.
Known As Typo has won four races and been placed on another six occasions, with her best time over the Dawson Park 400m being a slick 22.98s.
Her biggest danger may well be the inexperienced Firebee, which will be having just her third start when she lines up from box one.
The Neil Hudson-trained bitch ran 23.10s at just her second race start recently and from the inside draw she should be hard to beat.
Later in the program Benji's Friend will be out to maintain her unbeaten start to her career when she starts from box seven in the www.bettowintips.com.au Stakes (318m).
A daughter of top stud dog Where's Pedro, Benji's Friend has had two starts at Cowra over the 327m for two impressive wins but will have to handle the rise to TAB standard racing.
Her two wins have come by a combined margin of ten-and-three-quarter lengths, and while she has drawn wider on the track for her first look at Dubbo she appears to have the early speed to compensate for that.
As well as the action on the track there will also be a jumping castle for the kids, while eight lucky punters will be 'owners for the day' and get the chance to take home prizemoney if their allocated greyhound finishes in the top three.
Fields for today's meeting appear on page 19 of today's Daily Liberal.
