Sophie Simpson and Rose Purcell snipped off their gorgeous long locks to donate to the Beautiful Lengths program.
Their hair will be used to make wigs for women who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment.
The Beautiful Lengths program, in conjunction with Look Good ... Feel Better encourages women to grow, maintain, cut and donate their hair for the wigs.
The girls hoped their donation would make more people aware of the program and perhaps inspire them to donate their hair as well.
Sophie, whose new, shorter hairstyle had come just in time for her birthday on Christmas Eve, said she and Rose had "wanted to do something that was nice for someone, something that was very kind and generous".
Rose said she sometimes missed her braids.
"But now I can swim and run faster," she said.
