Secretary/manager of the Cobar Memorial Services and Bowling Club Linda Carter said unfortunately the number of bowlers was low and the club became unsustainable.
After the club came out of administration 12 months ago the decision was made to transform the club's second bowling green into a remote control car track in conjunction with Cobar Nitro Cars.
Ms Carter said the second bowling green had not been used in a number of years and overall the decision to renovate was well received.
"I'm excited that we can branch out and do something different," she said.
"It's a way to invite people to the bowling club.
"I'm very thankful for the support we've had from the race club, sponsor and the community."
About 500 people gathered for the open day of the race track on Sunday, which Ms Carter said, along with a lot of racing included face painting, lolly jar, barbecue, music, raffles and more.
"It was a great day and it had very good interest," she said.
Fuel and battery-powered cars can be used on the track by junior members of the Cobar Memorial Services and Bowling Club, Ms Carter said.
"We're hoping to have regular race meetings and competitions," she said.
