Warren Shire Council has been given $25,000 towards a skate park, while RiverSmart Australia was given $50,000 as it continues to build its Window on the Wetlands Centre.
Barwon MP Kevin Humphries said the two projects were extremely deserving but there was plenty of competition for funding under the government's Community Building Partnership program.
"There was a strong level of interest from the community for the available funds, with almost 3,000 applications received across NSW," he said.
There has been strong community support for the Window on the Wetlands project and funding has already helped to relocate the old timber church to its new home beside the Tiger Bay Wetlands
RiverSmart CEO Dr Bill Phillips said further funding of $50,000 will go towards refurbishing the church and adjacent toilet block so it can open in early 2015 as a wetland education and cultural centre.
"The grant will be used to revamp this beautiful old building, including funds for our local lead lighting group to complete restoration of the stained glass windows," Dr Phillips said.
"We will also be building disabled access to both the old church and the amenities block to ensure the centre is open to everyone."
Mr Humphries said he was looking forward to seeing the benefits of these local projects for Warren as they are undertaken and more importantly, put into use.
"These projects have been chosen because of their benefit to the town - through encouraging tourism, delivering local jobs and providing places where the community can gather," he said.
