MORE than $2650 was collected on Saturday for the Raise A Sweat For Max fundraiser at Anytime Fitness.
In a period of 12 hours, about 40 runners pumped out 119 kilometres on the gym treadmills, all with 18-month-old Max McIntyre on their minds.
Fifteen-minute time slots were made available for purchase at $25, with the day's proceeds donated directly to the family.
Co-organiser Ben Walker said he was pleased with how the day panned out.
"There were people running at full speed and others there just for a walk to enjoy themselves," Mr Walker said.
He said many people contributed to more than one 15-minute session, with Rob McIntyre wrapping the day up in the final half-hour.
"The day wouldn't have been possible without the work of Hayley Altmann and the crew at Anytime Fitness," Mr Walker said.
The space was decked out in yellow balloons and streamers, which Mr Walker said added to the atmosphere.
Special mention goes to Dubbo nurse Christie Gunther, who raised $550 after spending five-and-a-half hours on the treadmill.
Max's father, Rob McIntyre, said he was blown away with the amount of support his family had received from the community.
"To have someone come along and walk for five hours non-stop is phenomenal and I can't thank everyone involved enough," Mr McIntyre said.
"Anytime Fitness in particular have been amazing."
The majority of the people who took part in the event had never met the family before, which Mr McIntyre said had made it really special.
"Not only has Anytime Fitness held this event, they are also one of the local businesses that have supported us by selling the yellow footprint stickers we have to raise money for Max."
In February this year, Max was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis, with his parents told he only had days to live.
But, little Max is a fighter and against all medical advice he survived.
With the possibility of overseas treatments for Max on the cards, the Dubbo community has stepped up to support the McIntyres.
A second fundraiser for the McIntyres, Flip Out For Max will be held on Saturday, December 13.
The event coincides with the opening of the new Flip Out trampoline facility at the Dubbo Showground.
