The staff at Dubbo Post Shop in Talbragar Street were ready and waiting to pass on to Santa the letters that had begun trickling in to the little red box inside the store.
Senior Postal Services Officer Virginia Brown said she and her children had all written letters to Santa in previous years.
"We are urging people to buy, wrap and post early," she said. Australia Post has called on children across Western NSW to write and post their Christmas letters and wish lists to Santa Claus nice and early as the countdown to his busiest night of the year began.
All letters received this month would get a personalised response direct from the North Pole.
Making sure the man in red replied to letters before Christmas was as easy as dropping your letter in the post addressed to Santa, North Pole, 9999. The letter must contain a full name and address and a stamped envelope so Santa knows where to send his reply.
Australia Post executive general manager Christine Corbett said last year children sent more than 150,000 letters to Santa.
"Santa has heard that there have been many well-behaved children in Western NSW this year, so I'm encouraging them all to make sure they write their letters and wish lists as soon as possible," she said.
