UnitingCare and Target Dubbo have combined for the 2014 Giving Box, formerly known as Operation Santa, and with rising costs of living, there is expected to be more demand than ever.
A giving box is displayed at the front of the Target store in Dubbo Square and shoppers are encouraged to place unwrapped gifts inside. They can also take a gift tag and make donations at the checkouts.
"There are so many families in our community who are going to find it really tough to provide gifts for their children this year. We rely on fellow locals to dig deep, so please support our appeal at Target Dubbo," UnitingCare Dubbo coordinator Jacqui Tooth said.
We make sure all donated gifts go to local families.
"When it comes to donating gifts, please remember that it isn't just small children, we also help older children so a mixture of toys for young and more mature children would be appreciated."
Target Dubbo store manager Cherie Fuller said the Giving Box was an extremely worthwhile service.
"We are very pleased to be part of this and it's wonderful to see how the community supports local people who are in need. It's such a worthy cause and I would encourage everyone to get involved," she said.
