Members of the Western District Road and Public Order Services yesterday interviewed a 29-year-old man in relation to the incident.
The man will be proceeded against on a number of driving charges, including failing to remain at the scene of a crash. He will appear in court at a later date.
Miss Stewart was taken to hospital after she was knocked off her bike on a training ride in Tarleton Street, East Devonport, about 2pm on October 30.
The impact threw Miss Stewart to the ground and knocked the motorist's side rear vision mirror off.
"I took the car's mirror off and I was lying on the road," the champion cyclist told The Advocate following the incident.
"I looked up and I had a fairly large truck coming for me head on, so I had to scramble off the road as fast as I could."
