The female foal was born on November 3 to mother Suren, who has been keeping a protective eye on her offspring.
About a metre tall, the foal was named Mila, which means 'loved by the people' in Russian.
Keeper Natacha Richards said the foal was doing really well and had continually gained more strength and confidence.
"The foal is only leaving Suren's side long enough to fulfil her curiosity of her environment before she returns to have a feed and a sleep under her mother's watchful eye," Ms Richards said.
She said it would be a few months before Mila would start venturing away from her mother.
"Suren is displaying all the right maternal behaviours as she continues to bond with her new foal."
Przewalski's horses are critically endangered and Taronga Western Plains Zoo has been collaborated with zoos around the world to increase their numbers in Mongolia.
"There are now almost 2000 Przewalski's horses in human care and in the wild today, which is a huge step for the species that was once extinct.
"The birth of this foal represents yet another success for the zoo's breeding program which also saw another female foal, Tegus, born in February this year."
In 1995 the zoo reintroduced five mares into the Gobi Desert, which has since led to the birth of 18 horses.
