Senior tennis players from across the state will battle it out in the upcoming annual Paramount Senior Tournament.
Up to 80 players are expected to play in the "competitive but social" competition this weekend, president of the Paramount Tennis Club Mark Campbell, said.
"There are a lot of senior tournaments across the state, so we're expecting a lot of players from Sydney and the Central Coast," he said.
"We should have a strong contingent from local and visiting players.
"We're expecting a very competitive tournament, but still in the spirit of the game."
Campbell said the Paramount Senior Tournament was the only seniors tournament in the central west.
The "Wimbledon of the central west" is obviously a notable event on the senior tennis calendar, Campbell said.
"It's pretty rare for seniors to travel for competitions, so that shows how highly regarded it is," he said.
Former Australian Over 40s title holders Craig Edwards and Margaret Waite will be two Sydney-based players who will raise the competition to the next level.
Edwards is the favourite for the singles title, but Brad Williams, who won the title last year, should give him a contest.
