Gilgandra resident and former Penrith Panthers prop John Farragher has donated his sizable collection to the dinner and has been one of the driving forces behind it.
It is hoped with a large collection of memorabilia including rugby league and rugby union jerseys and cricket gear, a significant amount can be raised for cancer research.
Paul Morris, Wendy Nelson and Don Kennaugh have been important parts of the organisation of the event and are excited that all money raised on the night will go to the Gilgandra and District Cancer Fundraisers.
"John Farragher deserves the credit, he has been the one who has ensured this got off the ground and his generous donation of memorabilia will be the feature of the night," Mr Kennaugh said.
"John lost his brother to leukaemia and he decided that he wanted to do something towards cancer research.
Mr Farragher has had his own challenges to overcome. He played rugby league for the Penrith Panthers until he packed down in a scrum in 1978 which collapsed on him and left him a quadriplegic.
Confined to a wheelchair, Mr Farragher has not let it slow him down and continues to be a prominent member of the Gilgandra community.
As well as Mr Farragher, Gould and Simmons, between 30 and 40 other former Panthers players will make the trek to Gilgandra for the night, incorporating the event into their annual reunion.
"It will be a great night and there should be some great stories told," Mr Kennaugh said.
As well as the guest speeches and charity auctions, the night includes a delicious two course dinner.
"Gilgandra is getting a reputation for hosting successful sporting memorabilia auctions and this one should be the same, with a lot of top class memorabilia," Mr Kennaugh said.
The cancer fundraiser will be held at the Gilgandra Shire Hall on Saturday, October 25. Tickets are limited and expected to see quickly.
