Ilisoni Vonomateiratu appeared at Dubbo Local Court on a charge of mid-range drink-driving.
As a guilty plea was offered on his behalf, his solicitor told the court of Vonomateiratu's situation.
The 32-year-old had been in Australia for a short time and had his licence suspended on August 18 when the charge was laid, she said.
The man had lost his job as a consequence.
The court heard his skill base was driving and an employment opportunity was on offer within the week at Nyngan's solar plant - but he needed his license.
The solicitor proposed Vonomateiratu undertake a traffic offenders program, with one at Bathurst being available the soonest - but it was not before the intake for the solar plant position.
She made a verbal application to appeal the suspension and the prosecutor said he did not wish to be heard on the matter.
The appeal was upheld under a section of the legislation, with the percentage of cases dealt with in that way cited.
Vonomateiratu will be sentenced on November 10.
