POLICE have apprehended a man who allegedly drove a stolen car that reached speeds of more than 200km/h on the Newell Highway Tuesday afternoon.

The Audi A5 with Victorian number plates was spotted travelling 90km/h over the speed limit near Tomingley and the driver failed to stop for police.
Officers converged on surrounding streets to try to stop the vehicle as it entered Dubbo but it turned in to Ascot Park Road then was dumped at a Newmarket Road property.
Police are investigating reports a vehicle was then stolen from a Newmarket Road property.
Officers searched properties on the outskirts of Dubbo and arrested a 23-year-old Victorian man in Paintmine Road, about 35km north of Dubbo, about 5.45pm.
A spokesperson for Orana Local Area Command said the man was assisting police with their inquiries.
