The night was established in England in 1977 in response to a wave of attacks against women.
Since then it has become an event towards raising awareness of sexual violence and assisting survivors, student Nikia Harris said.
"It's about getting people to talk about sexual violence because often it's taboo and not spoken about at all," she said.
October 30 will be the 21st year Dubbo has been involved in the annual, international event.
The event was started in Dubbo by the Dubbo Violence Prevention Collective.
TAFE Western Certificate IV in Community Services students began helping to organise the cause in 2004.
Reclaim the Night will start at 4.30pm at the Church Street Rotunda with the street march to follow at 5.30pm.
A family event will follow the march, from about 6pm at the Macquarie Lions Park.
The event will feature guest speakers who will talk about sexual violence and its affects on the community.
Sexual violence assistance services will be available for survivors and members of the public.
Reclaim the night will also feature raffles, a barbecue, music, food stands and fun activities for children.
Ms Harris encourages people to be among the potentially 200 plus marchers.
"It really opens your eyes to how many people have been affected by sexual violence," she said.
"It's more common than you think- it definitely does go on," added student Courtney Vizintin.
Donna Shadwell Reclaim the Night project supervisor said people of all ages and genders are encouraged to attend.
"Support is here in Dubbo and it's important for the community as a whole to say it's unacceptable," she said.
"In Dubbo we actively encourage men to be involved."
