The newly-announced manager of the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre (DRTCC) yesterday spoke of her enthusiasm for the role and her determination to continue securing high-quality drama, dance, music and entertainment for Dubbo audiences.
More than 110,000 tickets have been sold to shows at the Dubbo City Council facility since it opened in 2010.
Ms Christof, whose previous role was operations co-ordinator at the DRTCC, wants to build on that platform and hopes to reach out to a section of the population that could be represented more strongly among patrons across Australian theatres.
"I have a genuine passion for the arts and I look forward to continuing to work with community and cultural groups to ensure the DRTCC is accessible to as many people as possible," she said.
"Over the past four years we have developed a wonderful program of shows for children and we enjoy very loyal support from our subscribers.
"However, there is an opportunity to provide more theatre and performances for the 18 to 35 age range.
"Sourcing exciting events and performances relevant to this age group will be one of the challenges I am looking forward to in my new role."
The line-up of shows for 2015 remained under wraps, but yesterday Ms Christof provided some hints.
"Think comedy, contemporary dance and some plays that are a little more risque," she said.
They would be pitched at the younger demographic, but would still have broad appeal to satisfy all patrons, the manager said.
"My team and I are very excited to unveil the 2015 season on November 16," Ms Christof said.
Council community services director David Dwyer said Ms Christof had played a vital role at the theatre during the past four years and brought extensive knowledge and experience to her new role.
"She combines her extensive experience with a knack for innovative thinking that will no doubt serve her well in her new role and ensure the DRTCC continues to attract a strong program of high calibre performances to appeal to a diverse audience."
