Chris Thompson was critically injured after the vehicle he was driving ran off the road and into a tree near Geurie early on Friday morning.
Yesterday, three days later, a Westmead Hospital spokeswoman said he remained in a critical but stable condition.
Mr Thompson was airlifted to Westmead from Dubbo Hospital on Friday and family members drove to Sydney to be by his side.
He is an accomplished rugby league player who plays for the Wellington Cowboys.
At the weekend Mr Thompson's brother-in-law Jay Forrester thanked the community on behalf of the family for the support and well wishes that had flowed since the accident.
