The earliest records of the group date back to 1974 when the group was founded by Geoff Hegwood, Bob Thompson and Madeleine Brazier.
The following year, in 1975, the group held its first public awareness campaign and tested the blood glucose levels of 1000 people throughout the community.
In 1980 it held its first seminar with Dr Warren Kidson and Stan Clark and was also given a room at Dubbo Base Hospital for counselling and storage.
Flo Ashby, who has been in the group for about 30 years, said finding out more about the past members, especially those who were on the committee, would help the group piece together the story of diabetes in Dubbo.
The Dubbo Diabetes Support Group meets every third Tuesday of the month.
Anyone with information about the group's history is urged to contact Ms Ashby on 6882 5848.
