Police stopped a green Holden Commodore ute on the Castlereagh Highway, on the northern side of the township, about 1.45pm Sunday and spoke with the driver.
When officers from Castlereagh Local Area Command searched the vehicle they found a bag allegedly containing 150 ecstasy tablets, which had an estimated potential street value of about $7500.
A 51-year-old man from Lightning Ridge was arrested and taken to Coonamble Police Station where he was charged with possess a prohibited drug and supply a prohibited drug.
He was granted conditional bail to appear in Coonamble Local Court on October 21.
