On the eve of the Group 11 semi-final series, the defending champions flexed their attacking prowess and defensive muscle to thrash a depleted Jets combination.

Parkes scored 13 tries to one, all at regular intervals, and led 36-0 at oranges to consolidate fourth position ahead of the final round next Sunday at Macquarie.

Prout and Dooley proved stunning contributors to the Spacemen cause on a grey winter’s day before the smallest audience of the season.

The irrepressible Epi Sadrodro and Tino Ionatana were also impressive as the Spacemen went about their task in a business-like manner.

Skipper Pat Rosser was pleased with the 73 per cent completion rate (24/33 sets) as his side prepared for the challenge of defending their premiership.

The last three rounds have produced an aggregate score of 206 points for and 18 against but Rosser remains acutely aware of the need to increase his team’s focus and intensity in the race for another title.

The two early contests provided contrasting and lively contests.

Parkes Reserves clinched second spot with a comprehensive 50-8 win while the Juniors drew 26-all and now face a difficult task to reach the finals.

Parkes went into the first grade affair minus Dennis Moran, Todd Barrow, Cameron Standen and Hayden Robinson with Jake Porter and Ben Nash earning starting berths.

Light showers prior to kick off provided slippery conditions but veteran referee John Francis kept the two combatants well apart.

Soft tries by Epi Sadrodro and will-o-the-wisp Alex Prout in the opening 10 minutes established the pattern of the match as the Spacemen refined their structure, discipline and attack.

Porter’s superb in goal grubber earned Dooley a good try for 18-0 after 15 minutes as the match developed into little more than a training gallop.

Prout stole his second and Ionatana travelled 30 metres for 30-0 in as many minutes as the score mounted and the entertainment flowed.

Sam Dwyer backed up Pat Rosser for Parkes’ sixth try and 36-0 at oranges but two others went begging with the final pass astray.

Ada Aparosa sped over for Parkes’ seventh try when play resumed, marking the return to the top grade of crowd pleaser Duncan Constable.

Brad Hayward also produced a committed effort from the bench in his first top grade appearance.

With only pride to play for, the visitors eventually opened their account on 50 minutes but Ionatana responded moments later from dummy half for 44-6.

Dave Masoe and Ionatana combined for Prout’s hat-trick to reach the half century after 66 minutes.

In the run to the judge, Prout galloped 95 metres for his fourth try; Masoe burst 60 metres from the restart to put Evi Nioko over; Jake Dooley put Nioko over for a second and on the siren Dwyer stepped neatly on his own quarter to put Aparosa 50 metres for the final try.

Sadrodro 32, Dooley 25, Rosser 20, Prout and Jordan Pope 18 headed the tackle count while Nioko and Nash with 11, Sadrodro 10, and Aparosa nine topped the hit-ups in a tradesman-like display in difficult conditions.
