The CommBank Cricket Club has been established to help both senior and junior clubs with cash grants that can be obtained simply by visiting a website and registering.

Former Australian batsman Mike Hussey and dual-sport star Ellyse Perry have been named as ambassadors for the program, and Perry said she would like to see Dubbo clubs get involved.

"I know from my days coming up through junior cricket and into the senior system how much it costs to run clubs, and how much it costs parents and players to be involved," Perry, who has represented the nation in both cricket and soccer, said.

"Particularly in places like Dubbo, where you have to travel a lot to play rep cricket, the costs can add up and the good thing about these grants is that they help clubs with whatever they need.

"It might be to cover some costs for a season, or to help a young player with costs of playing at that higher level, and that was one of the reasons I was so keen to be involved.

"The good thing is the process is pretty simple. Sometimes to get grants you need to fill out heaps of paperwork but there's not much effort involved to be in the draw so I would like to see a heap of clubs put themselves in the running for some of the money on offer."

Ninety clubs will receive a $1000 grant as well as equipment while one club will have its assistance package bumped up to $10,000.
