Pat was our oldest swimmer and only stopped swimming regularly in recent months. Readers of this column would also be very familiar with Pat's unique style writing of the Dubbo Ducks News for many years.
Your gentle nature, your cheeky smile and your cheery wave will always be remembered Pat. You were a true gentleman and you will be greatly missed. God bless you.
A few brave souls tested the Duck Pond on Sunday with Roger Mackay being in fine form to win the 25m freestyle Vern Traegar Trophy from Tony Wall who was only 0.03 seconds behind. Andrew Schloeffel was third, his dad Brian fourth while Greg Salmon completed the field.
Roger Mackay and Ron Everett won the backstroke/butterfly brace relay but unfortunately swam too fast, giving the win to Tony Wall and Andrew Schloeffel.
The only female swimmer of the morning, Nichole Johnstone, and partner Greg Salmon were relegated to second place with Rob Rich and Brian Schloeffel third.
Table boss David Sparkes, nursing a clipped wing, was back in action and chose 100m freestyle as the final event. Andrew Schloeffel was the winner, Roger Mackay second and Tony Wall third.
Lucky numbers were held by Brian Schloeffel, Greg Salmon, Andrew Schloeffel and Roger Mackay. Birthday wishes to Neil and Judy while a welcome back goes to Richy and a speedy recovery for the shoulders of Henry Willcockson and Dave Sparkes.
Members are reminded the up coming Austimer visit is fast approaching. Please let Ron Everett know of your intentions, final numbers must be in by Sunday July 27.
