According to Primary and Community Health (PaCH) Nursing and Men's Health Co-ordinator Andrew Whale, the main aim of the day is to provide education and updates on clinical practises for community-based nursing services.
"Community Nursing is an integral part in the delivery of health services, especially when you consider that the work our community nurses do often prevents avoidable admissions into hospital," Mr Whale said.
"The annual conference means our community nurses are kept up-to-date about current and new ways of doing things."
Those attending the conference will hear from Rae Johnson, from the Concord Hospital burns unit. He will talk to them about the current methods of managing burns.
Other sessions include health promotion, aged care, radiotherapy management, Aboriginal health and recognising anxiety and depression.
A panel session during the afternoon will include a number of key health district executives and managers and will provide an opportunity for participants to ask questions about the future direction of primary healthcare.
