With Orange and Bathurst councils reportedly in discussion to implement the ban across both the CBD areas, Cr Dickerson remains adamant that Dubbo residents are correctly following the legislation which is already in place.
Cr Dickerson said he was extremely pleased with the way Dubbo residents were abiding by the restrictions.
"There haven't been any issues raised that could cause the council to consider making the Dubbo CBD a smoke free area," Cr Dickerson said.
"There are enough initiatives to ensure that Dubbo remains to be the sustainable community that we all know it is," he said.
"A decision like this would require input from all councillors and it hasn't been put forward to us at this stage."
Dubbo Chamber of Commerce president Andrew Toole said from a business perspective he could see some negative light shining from the proposal to completely ban smoking in the CBD.
"What's in place at moment is adequate," Mr Toole said.
"I would be hesitant to support a blanket ban across the CBD, which in turn could be the sole reason to driving people away from our local businesses."
"I think Dubbo is adhering to the regulations which are in place at the moment and I don't think the extreme measure of a blanket ban would be warranted," Mr Toole said.
Smokers risk fines of up to $550 if they light up at the entrance to shopping centres, hotels, schools and other prohibited areas.
