* Dubbo's chamber of commerce considered recommendations that shops trade longer on a Saturday and open for business on a Sunday in peak holiday times. A survey was taken and respondents weren't happy about the plans.
* A feud brewed over the drought in western NSW between the Bureau of Meteorology and the Department of Water Resources with the department claiming the drought has been caused by poor rainfall, while the bureau says water management is to blame.
* Chief inspector Keith Beacroft said the community needed to help themselves when it comes to stopping crime int eh city. A Community Communication Campaign was launched with inspector Beacroft telling residents reducing crime in the city was very much in their hands.
* Dubbo base hospital received a $535,000 funding boost for the establishment of a Remote Rural Health Training Unit.
