Playmates Cottage is fighting for the right to stay on the grounds of Dubbo Base Hospital beyond December 2015, when its current lease runs out.
The government is keeping its options open with planners assessing if the site will be needed for other hospital facilities.
Dubbo MP Troy Grant said the petition had been set as an order of the day for discussion on Thursday September 18.
Earlier this month the Save Playmates Cottage sub-committee handed Mr Grant the 10,500-strong petition.
"The journey of a petition through the Parliament can be lengthy. It is important to note on the date set for the discussion, members will have the opportunity to speak for or against, but there will be no debate or vote on that day," Mr Grant said.
"I have always been open and honest with not only Playmates but also the community that my number one priority is securing the very best health facilities and services for our city and regional communities. I value the role of Playmates and the planning phase will hopefully find an opportunity for a win-win.
"Our health services play a big part in assisting over 200,000 across Western NSW and it's important that we see the best health care services available."
