Children from Dubbo North Public School were among the first yesterday to reach great heights at the improved Powter Park.
Year 5 student Bailey Ross gave a score of "100 out of 100" to the new nest swing - in Spiderman-like blue and red.
"It's madness because you can fit lots of people on it," he said.
While the students from the nearby school tested out the equipment, Dubbo City Council counted the playground as a smart use of contributions made by developers.
The project was funded by section 94 public space contributions arising from the increase in medium-density development in North Dubbo in recent years, horticultural services manager Ian McAlister said.
"Powter Park is the second new playground installed in Dubbo this year, following the recent construction of the Delroy Park playground in west Dubbo," he said.
As part of the design process, eight different options were chosen from various suppliers and a ballot was conducted at Dubbo North Public School to determine what the preferred option would be, he said.
"People power was the order of the day, with a design from a company called SPIZVAC a clear favourite with three quarters of children surveyed choosing the winning design," he said.
The new playground complements the recently-upgraded competition grade BMX track at the site, "creating a recreational hub for families in the area".
The council will continue its renewal program in the next six months with replacement of playgrounds in two other locations in the city.
"In the coming financial year council will spend $50,000 on replacing Buckingham Drive Playground and $55,000 to replace Manera Heights playground," Mr McAlister said.
