The Wellington side was not considered anywhere near one of the favourites heading into the carnival, but led by St Collegians' Rawson Homes Premiership trio of Michelle Williams, Megan Lipyln and Emily Willmott, the Wellington side won 15 of their 21 matches across the long weekend.
"We definitely surprised a few," Williams said.
"Some didn't even know where Wellington was but we did what we set out to achieve and we're pretty proud."
Williams said the side always backed their own ability after showing glimpses of their talents at last year's Championships and they improved on that this year with some eye-catching play.
"We were amazing, we exceeded all expectations," she said.
"We came up against some hard competition but we did well and shocked a lot of other associations, especially in a lot of matches where we were down at half-time but came back and annihilated them."
After being given the chance to play for Wellington at last year's Championships Williams said the players were more than happy to go again this year.
The side was made up of players from a number of teams while there was also an array of ages with 15-year-olds Jade Hammond and Bec Weekes not looking out of place at all.
"Ten of us are from Dubbo and we've also got Kristy Dallinger who's now down in Gosford, so it was a great mix," she said.
"On the last day our second last game was against a side equal on points with us so we had to win or we'd drop to seventh or eighth and in the second half we just blew them off the park.
"It was an important match and we played out of our skins, the older girls and the younger girls all stepped up."
Meanwhile Dubbo's under-17s side finished 10th with 12 wins, nine losses and one draw while playing against some of the best young players in NSW.
