Dubbo Show officials are celebrating after an increased crowd, record numbers of entries and sunny weather made it one of the best shows in recent memory and drew praise from those attending.
Dubbo Show Committee president Martin Morris was delighted to see the Dubbo community behind the show and making it a success.
"I don't think it could have gone any better. We have had excellent crowds, an excellent number of entries in every section and the feedback we have had has been fantastic," Mr Morris said.
"Our chief steward for sheep has been looking at records and Dubbo has set a record for the most number of sheep at a showground in Australia. Our numbers have always been good but this year they have been fantastic.
"I think everyone is very happy."
Mr Morris expects to find out crowd figures today but early indications were that numbers for both Friday and Saturday were up on last year and yesterday's attendance numbers were also good.
As well as the sheep judging, numbers of cattle and pavilion displays were also up significantly on recent years.
It bucked the trend of poor attendance and participation at both the Bathurst and Orange shows this year.
"Cold weather and a few other issues brought Orange and Bathurst down but we couldn't be happier. The weather was absolutely fantastic, we couldn't have asked for better there," Mr Morris said.
"The conditions have been excellent and that meant Dubbo City Council had the grounds looking great, it is nice and green.
"Talking to zone delegates who have been to all the shows, they said we outshone the rest so that is nice feedback to hear."
Entertainment also drew plenty of praise this year, with X Factor product Taylor Henderson impressing crowds on Friday night and then an impressive fireworks display on Saturday night.
Mr Morris said children were very impressed with sideshow alley and the range of rides.
"We had between 40 and 50 rides this year so there really was something for everyone," he said.
"Nobody can put a show like this on without a good committee and ours has worked tirelessly to ensure the show was a success.
"We also had great support from our sponsors Orana Mutual, the Daily Liberal, ZOO FM and Dubbo City Council."
