Dubbo City Council's Director Technical Services, Stewart McLeod said the Eumungerie Water Supply Scheme will see the extension of council's essential water supply service to the outlying villages of Eumungerie and Mogriguy.
"At present, residents of Eumungerie and Mogriguy use rainwater tanks and purchase bulk water during dry periods, with some residents also having access to private bores on their properties," Mr McLeod said.
"The Eumungerie Water Supply Scheme will supply water to the residents of Eumungerie and Mogriguy via a 4km reticulation network within Eumungerie and a 700 metre reticulation network in Mogriguy.
"Eumungerie's reticulation network will connect to an 11.5km long reticulation main and Mogriguy's reticulation network will connect to a 3.2km long reticulation main from a 100 kilolitre capacity reservoir and chlorinator system to be located south of Eumungerie.
"The project will also include a pumping station at Brocklehurst and a 16.6km rising main from Brocklehurst along the Mogriguy Road towards the reservoir," Mr McLeod said.
Council has proposed to invest $4.5 million over the next two financial years to construct the Eumungerie Water Supply Scheme as outlined in the Draft Plan.
"Preconstruction works are currently underway and expected to be complete by the end of September this year, with tenders to be called for construction of the scheme in October," Mr McLeod said.
