The 23-year-old was born and bred in the city and after studying in Bathurst and then living in England last year, she is happy to be back in her hometown.
"I'm very happy, I love Dubbo. I grew up here and was involved in theatre and arts growing up," Michaela said.
"I went to Bathurst and studied at CSU to do my bachelor in Communications - Theatre Media and I spent last year in the UK where I worked at schools and travelled around Europe in my holidays.
"Now I'm back and I'm studying my masters in teaching, which will allow me to teach English and drama."
As well as her studies, Michaela is working at the Old Dubbo Gaol and as a research assistant for the Rural Financial Counselling Service. Her passion is theatre and she wants to see it used in schools to challenge young minds.
Michaela said she is enjoying being part of the showgirl competition and if she wins, she will use the opportunity to promote the city.
"It's a really great opportunity to meet new people. I got to spend time with amazing girls and I think Dubbo has given me a lot, so this is a great opportunity to give back a little bit and to represent the young people in Dubbo," she said.
"I'm really enjoying the opportunity to see behind the scenes of the show. I did an event management unit at university and this is a big event so it will be good to see how it runs."
