The RSPCA could hit full capacity by the end of the week unless some of the dogs in their care are adopted.

As of yesterday, there were 18 dogs waiting for good homes, while another 10 are currently been desexed, given health checks and vaccinations to get them ready to also.
Unlike the pound, the RSPCA doesn’t put a timeframe on the animals in their care, but Nikki Balzer said they prefer to find homes quickly so they have room to take other unwanted pets.
“We’re nearly full and that’s why we are really trying to find a home for these guys,” Nikki said.
“We’ve got everything from small dogs to very large dogs. We also have pups right through to older dogs so I think we have something to cater for everybody.
“They are good value. Puppies are $370 and adults are $310, that’s desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and put through a behaviour test.”
The RSPCA have combined with Petbarn to form an adoption program and Nikki said it is working well. She encourages anyone who is considering getting a dog to look at the RSPCA range before going anywhere else.
As well as dogs, they have other animals up for adoption, including poultry and rabbits.
“Birds and poultry are very popular. We had some budgies the other day and they were adopted the same day. Any time we get chickens they are adopted pretty quickly too,” Nikki said.
“If anybody is looking for a pet, they should try us. If we don’t have what they are looking for, we may know.”
