While Greaves has been selected to represent Australia at the World Deaf Championships in America, it was the first time she had met the other golfers while at Dubbo.
"It's been great to meet up with other members of the deaf golf community," she said.
"I played with two of the ladies and we had a really good day. The golf wasn't great, had a couple of out of bounds, but the company more than made up for it.
"I won't be leaving for America until July so to play in the Dubbo Easter Tournament was good practice."
Geoff Read is one of the prime movers behind Deaf Golf NSW and has a regular newsletter for members to promote events.
A member of the Kareela Golf Club in Sydney, Read - who plays off 22 handicap - played in the same group on Saturday at Dubbo with Deaf Golf member Craig Douglas, a six-marker from Wallacia. Local members Lou Doherty and Barry Hildebrandt made up the foursome.
It was Read's first time at Dubbo while Douglas has been here before and played in the feature Macquarie Cup stroke event. His first round of 81 was mixed with a couple of double bogies that put him well off the pace.
Douglas, who relies on sign language to communicate with playing partners, will also be wearing Australian colours at the World titles.
Read, who can lip read, was joined in Dubbo by his hearing impaired wife Jane and Maree Evans from Sugar Valley Golf Club in Newcastle.
Evans is a former Australian Deaf team member and as expected passed on valuable information to Chantell Greaves as she continues her preparation for America.
"We've really enjoyed our time in Dubbo and thank the local members for making us feel so welcome," Geoff Read said.
"We spent some lovely time at the zoo for a coffee this morning (Saturday), will be playing golf again on Sunday and stay on for a couple of days and get a look at your wonderful zoo.
"As for your golf course, it's been a good experience but I've found it quite difficult."
Feature event for Deaf Golf NSW members will be their Open Tournament at Federal Golf Club in Canberra on October 11 to12 and other club events during the next few months will be played at The Ridge, Bayview, Eastlakes, Branxton and Richmond.
And showing some of the things we take for granted, while standing on the 13th tee on Saturday the Siamang apes were making their noises at the nearby zoo.
Paul Read and Craig Douglas thought it was amazing that we could share that experience while on the golf course - unfortunately they couldn't hear those distinctive cries which was such a pity.
