Australian television personality Andrew Daddo was the special guest at the event run by local organisations UnitingCare Burnside and Family Options.
The day kicked off at 10am, showcasing various local services and available support to fathers and their families within the community.
Mr Daddo said he was thrilled to be asked to be an ambassador for all the other “dopey dads” out there.
Delivering a speech to the crowd, the father of three focused on the importance of bonding with children in a more traditional sense.
“Kids are never too old to have fun with the family.”
“When we go on car trips, the kids don’t watch movies or plug in their iPods.”
“We focus on enjoying our time together,” he said.
“It’s not about where you are, it’s how you all feel being together,” he said.
Team Leader for Communities at Burnside Child and Family group Margaret Ann Mould was pleased with the turnout for the event.
“Today has been about promoting the important role men play in the family,” Margaret Ann said.
“Andrew is a perfect ambassador for the program,” she said.
Mr Daddo said he has enjoyed his time out in the central west immensely.
“This is my first time to Dubbo but it certainly won’t be my last,” he said.
